In my last column, we explored how zodiac signs can influence your fitness workouts.
Perhaps they do, perhaps they don’t – only you know best where your true potential lies.
Here are the remainder of these signs for your information and entertainment.
The charmer and the performer among the signs, Leos gravitate toward workouts and sports where they can be the centre of attraction.
This fire sign is ruled by the Sun, so they need a lot of natural sunlight during their workouts or they will start slacking.
Leos love a good sweat, and if the right personal trainer comes along, they can be easily pushed to achieve a personal best.
They can be highly energetic or extremely lazy, hence suitable activities can range from high- intensity interval training (HIIT), upbeat spinning classes or any other heart-pumping routine.
They hate to be stuck in a routine rut, but if it’s a workout they enjoy, they will stick to it and reap the rewards.
Otherwise, you’ll find them relaxing at the spa or beach.
Lionesses will do well in dance-based classes, as they love grooving to music and want to show off their moves, while males should engage in macho sports such as kickboxing or judo.
Natural leaders who can motivate others, they will also thrive in team sports such as basketball or soccer.
Unsurprisingly, Leos like retired Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and American football quarterback Tom Brady are known for their charisma and natural stage presence.
This sign is all about discipline, structured workouts and a desire to achieve perfection.
Their asset lies in having great endurance, so ideal activities include going the distance such as hiking, cross-country running or triathlons.
Virgos would do well in strength training, as they’re focused on precision and alignment, besides keeping meticulous track of their progress.
However, Virgos have a tendency to see things in extremes of black and white – they might go overboard and can be obsessive exercisers, as they don’t want to see their gains drop.
Here’s when they could do with a long, leisurely stroll or a relaxing swim in the pool to clear their mind.
As they also exude a calming vibe, a structured yoga or stretch session will bring about plenty of benefits.
PS: Don’t talk to them when they’re working out as it disrupts their carefully pre-planned routine.
Librans are ruled by the planet Venus so they’re drawn towards anything that spells love, beauty and fun.
That means no solo workouts for them as they do best in group exercise classes or when they team up with a buddy.
The focus is always on “we” before “I”.
They seek harmony in both fitness and life, and will turn away from exercising in an “ugly” setting, such as a poorly-lit gym or a park filled with fallen branches or uncut grass.
Graceful, balanced and coordinated, they have a penchant for Zumba, gymnastics, ballroom dancing, diving, Pilates, yoga, doubles tennis or pickleball.
As long as the activity has a fun, social appeal, you’ll find a Libran there making new friends.
Once they set their mind on a goal, they will go all out to achieve it and won’t mind dedicating themselves totally to a workout.
On the flip side, if their balance gets out of whack, they lose track of their goals, so it’s best for Librans to get a personal coach to design a balanced fitness programme to work on overall fitness, with an element of fun.
If the trainer is visually appealing, all the more will the beauty-loving Libran hire him or her.
These intense, driven individuals need something that can challenge their physical and mental limits.
They’re apparently filled with pent-up emotions and working out gives them a break after a long day of ruminating.
Participating in intense activities like martial arts, CrossFit, powerlifting, kickboxing or hot yoga can help lighten their mental and emotional load.
As they’re good at remembering details, Scorpios should incorporate a dance class for a fun way to fit in some fitness and challenge the brain.
Scorpios will do whatever it takes to get fit, and once their energy starts flowing, they won’t want to stop.
They need to remember not to overdo things as even top athletes need to rest and recharge.
Monitor your obsessive tendencies, pace yourself and aim for balance – get a tip or two from your Libran counterparts.
Although this sign is highly competitive, they prefer to be alone when trying to unwind.
Make sure you have downtime at home, but don’t isolate yourself for too long.
The most adventurous of the zodiac signs, there isn’t a sport or activity they wouldn’t try to release all their pent-up energy.
In whatever they do, they need variety and a sense of freedom.
They love being outdoors and are suited for activities such as hiking, archery, cycling and rock climbing.
They also enjoy team sports, martial arts and anything that involves a challenge and gives them a chance to explore.
However, this fire sign needs someone to work out with so they often text their close friends to see who can exercise with them to stay in shape.
You’ll hardly see them working out by themselves.
Should they hit the gym alone, they will bounce from machine to machine, never stopping long enough to really work a specific muscle group, but they won’t have it any other way.
Those born under this sign enjoy the freedom of exploration on their fitness journey, so they just do whatever feels right.
No limits or restrictions for the Sagittarian.
Should there be an invitation to bungee jump, they’ll jump right in without thinking twice.
This earth sign is ruled by Saturn, i.e. they’re practical and grounded, yet ambitious.
They enjoy workouts that require determination and persistence, but will set their own rhythm for them.
They’re drawn to activities where they can feel the ground beneath their feet, such as boot camp or outdoor running, although they can also be good at rowing and tai chi.
Like their fellow earth sign, Virgo, they have a disciplined mindset and a clear training strategy for every exercise session.
They’re unlikely to jump into a workout routine without having a clear plan first, i.e. they lack spontaneity.
Capricorn basketball star LeBron James is well known for his disciplined approach.
However, too much discipline is not necessarily a good thing, so be sure not to overlook stretching and flexibility as part of your overall routine.
Interestingly, many former boxing greats were born under this sign, including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and George Foreman.
Revathi Murugappan is a certified fitness trainer who tries to battle gravity and continues to dance to express herself artistically and nourish her soul.
